Terms and Conditions

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to create a Jiddie account. If the law where you live requires a higher minimum age or parental consent, you may use an account only after those requirements are satisfied. You must be legally able to accept these Terms.

2. Accounts and guest use

Some learning features can be used as a guest. An account may be required to sync progress, appear on server leaderboards, receive account-based reminders, or use other account features.

You agree to provide accurate information, use an account you are authorized to use, protect your credentials, and promptly notify Jiddie of suspected unauthorized access. You may not sell, transfer, rent, share, or impersonate another person's account.

3. Educational service

Jiddie provides chess lessons, puzzles, practice, computer matches, progress tracking, rankings, and virtual rewards for education and entertainment. Jiddie does not guarantee a particular learning result, competition result, professional qualification, or official chess rating. Jiddie ELO and leaderboard rankings are in-app measurements and may not correspond to ratings issued by chess federations or other platforms.

4. License

Subject to these Terms and applicable app-store rules, Jiddie grants you a limited, personal, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable, and non-sublicensable license to install and use the Service for lawful, non-commercial personal use.

You may not copy, distribute, sell, lease, sublicense, publicly exploit, modify, create derivative works from, reverse engineer, decompile, attempt to extract source code from, bypass technical protections of, or misuse the Service except where applicable law or an applicable open-source license expressly permits it.

5. Public display names and leaderboards

Your profile display name, score, rank, ELO, and related progress statistics may be visible to other users. The global leaderboard may be viewed by guests. Choose a display name you are comfortable making public.

You must not use a display name that contains personal contact information; impersonates another person or organization; infringes intellectual-property or privacy rights; or is unlawful, hateful, threatening, harassing, sexually explicit, deceptive, or abusive. Jiddie may remove, reset, or restrict a display name when reasonably necessary to enforce these Terms or protect users.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Break applicable law or use Jiddie for unlawful, fraudulent, or harmful activity.
• Harass, threaten, exploit, or impersonate another person.
• Submit malicious code or attempt unauthorized access to accounts, systems, APIs, credentials, or data.
• Interfere with availability, security, ranking integrity, or another person's use of the Service.
• Automate gameplay, manipulate progress, fabricate activity, exploit bugs, duplicate rewards, or cheat leaderboards.
• Scrape or harvest user information or leaderboard data beyond ordinary personal viewing.
• Circumvent usage limits, access controls, account restrictions, or security measures.
• Infringe Jiddie's or another party's intellectual-property or privacy rights.

7. ELO, Gems, streaks, and rewards

Progress, ELO, Gems, streaks, achievements, unlocks, and rewards are features of the Service. They are not money, stored value, property, a security, or a prize; have no cash value; cannot be redeemed for cash; and may not be sold, transferred, or traded.

Jiddie may correct balances, rankings, or progress affected by an error, duplicate grant, abuse, cheating, or unauthorized activity. The current version does not sell Gems and does not offer subscriptions or in-app purchases.

8. Intellectual property

Jiddie, including its software, user interface, branding, mascot, original artwork, lesson text, course structure, audio, and other original materials, is owned by Jiddie or its licensors and is protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. Third-party components remain subject to their respective licenses.

Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership to you. Feedback you voluntarily provide may be used to improve Jiddie without payment or obligation.

9. Third-party services

Jiddie relies on third-party platforms and services, including app stores, authentication providers, hosting, databases, analytics, and notification providers. Your use of those services may also be governed by their terms and privacy notices. Jiddie is not responsible for a third-party service outside its control, subject to rights that cannot legally be excluded.

10. Updates and availability

We may update Jiddie to add, change, secure, or remove features; address errors; comply with law; or improve the experience. We may suspend part of the Service for maintenance, security, or operational reasons. We do not guarantee that every feature will always be available in every country, language, device, or app version.

11. Suspension and termination

You may stop using Jiddie or delete your account at any time. We may warn, restrict, suspend, or terminate access if we reasonably believe you materially or repeatedly violate these Terms; manipulate rewards or rankings; create a security, legal, or safety risk; or use the Service fraudulently.

Where reasonable, we will provide notice and an opportunity to contact Support. We may act immediately where needed to prevent harm, comply with law, or protect the Service.

12. Account deletion

Permanent deletion is available inside Jiddie at Profile > Delete account and through https://jiddie.com/delete-account. Deletion is governed by the Privacy Policy and is not the same as signing out or temporarily suspending an account.

13. Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Jiddie is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We disclaim warranties that may legally be disclaimed, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, satisfactory quality, accuracy, availability, and non-infringement.

Nothing in these Terms excludes consumer guarantees, statutory warranties, or rights that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

14. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Jiddie and its officers, employees, contractors, and licensors will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, exemplary, punitive, or consequential loss; loss of profits, opportunity, goodwill, or data; or business interruption arising from or relating to the Service.

This section does not limit liability that cannot legally be limited, including liability for fraud, willful misconduct, or personal injury where applicable.

15. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by applicable law. Mandatory consumer protections of your place of residence continue to apply. Before filing a formal claim, you and Jiddie agree to try to resolve the issue in good faith through support@jiddie.com, unless urgent relief or applicable law makes informal resolution inappropriate.

16. Apple App Store

If you downloaded Jiddie from Apple's App Store, these Terms are between you and Jiddie, not Apple. Jiddie, not Apple, is responsible for the app, its content, maintenance, support, and claims relating to it. Your license is limited to use on Apple-branded products you own or control as permitted by Apple's usage rules. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of this section and may enforce it. Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies unless Jiddie supplies a valid custom EULA through App Store Connect.

17. Google Play

If you downloaded Jiddie from Google Play, your use of Google Play is also subject to the Google Play Terms of Service. These Terms are between you and Jiddie, not Google. Jiddie is responsible for the app and its support, subject to applicable law and Google's own platform terms.

18. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms to reflect changes to Jiddie, law, security, or platform requirements. We will post the revised Terms and update the effective date. We will provide additional notice or obtain consent where required.
